GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!

We would have heard many many 'Slogans'. There are attractive and vibrant slogans raised according to the spirit and interest of the groups to which the people are attached. They may be Spiritual, Political, Economical, Radical, Fundamental or Revolutionary. Haroharaa, Swamiye Saranam Ayyappaa, Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan, Vande Maataram, Inquilaab Zindabaad, Jai Bajrangbali, Jai Maataa Di are some of the popular slogans that inspires crores of  people in the world and attract them towards the cause to which it is attached. What I intend to discuss here is one of such slogan, which differs in many ways from those mentioned above. It is  GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! The sound of this slogan is enough to inspire crores of people. Just say in loud voice, GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! again GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! once more GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. If others in your group second the slogan and join the chorus it is enough to thrill you. You need not be a believer. It is enough if you have good vocal cord or good ear drum. The voice will thrill you and land you in a separate world for few seconds.

I narrate some of the thrilling moments, which fills the atmosphere with super natural voice GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!

1. You were waiting in the queue for few hours to have Darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara of Tirumala Hills, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. Your tiredness douses you to a little nap. Suddenly people hear a noise of opening of the gates. Some of the pilgrims raise slogan GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. Immediately others join very loudly GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. How you feel the atmosphere could not be spelt in a few words here. That joy, that wave passing through the veins and nerves could only be enjoyed. The tiredness expire and the expectation becomes too much and you could not hide your energy which leaps to lead the queue. In a few moments you are about to witness the Greatness, Grace, Grandeur, Generous Glimpse of Lord of  Sri Vaikunta, who stands atop the Tirumala Hills as Lord Sri  Venkateswara for us.

2. A big Charriot of the Lord will be in procession during the Brahmotsava days of any Vishnu Temple in Tamil Nadu, especially in Srirangam, Kumbakonam, Kanchipuram, Tirupati (It was in Tamil Nadu before birth of AP). Lakhs of Devotees throng the temple and pull the Charriot of the Lord, around the Temple through the grand streets. They come from all walks of life. They are not controlled by any authority. They wander around according to their will and pleasure. There is no unified or orderly force other than the Lord. They pull the Charriot in a unison manner, without any direction from any authority. How is this possible. Is there any authority in any part of the world which extracts work without passing any rule or order. No. It happens in our temples only and can be witnessed during the Charriot procession. Who gives the order. No one else other than the Holy slogan GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. Once the Charriot is made ready for the procession a just raising of the slogan will be seconded by the Mass and the Charriot is pulled. The Crowd enjoys and being thrilled by the Holy Voice. It moves, moves and stops after a few steps and stops. Again the slogan is raised and makes further moves.

The Voice thrills and doubles the joy. Not only in joy the same Holy Voice gently touches and pacifies the sad and sorrowful moments too. Last journey of each and every individual is conducted with the same Holy Voice. Lifting the Corpus will be along with the raising of the slogan GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. The moment the slogan is raised it softens the weak minds and gives enormous strength to face the challenge. It gives energy to do the rituals. It boosts their morale.

An Elephant by name Gajendra was passing through a thick forest. He was proud of his mighty strength. He is pious but thinks unequal in might. On his way he swims across a pond with little water and some "Lotus" A crocodile caught him. The two creatures fight against each other. Each one pull the other with fullest of their power. This pull-pull situation continues for days together. No one is ready to leave it. But the Croc is mightier than the elephant in water. So the pull gently moves towards the croc. The elephant understands that he is about to be finished. He thought he has no other way but to give up, if he continues this kind of pull. He has no one in the vicinity to seek rescue.

But the mighty one decided to give up. He learnt that his power is nothing. He understands his limit. He decided to Surrender. Not before the Croc, but to the Almighty, Lord of Fourteen Universe. Creator of Time and Tide. He plucked Lotus from the pond with his trunk and raises the Holy Voice, GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. His Surreptitiousness paid. The Lord of Four Arms with Shanka, Chakra, Gadhaa and Lotus flew down from the Vaikunta on Garuda (Holy Eagle-the Vehicle of Lord Maha Vishnu). Finishes the croc and Rescues the Elephant. Gives him immense and unfinished Pleasure in His Abode. Unwavering Surreptitiousness towards the Lord with the Holy Voice GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! will give every one of us the utmost joy and pleasure in this world and the world beyond.

Paanchaali (Princess of Paanchaal-Punjab), popularly called Draupati (Daughter of Drupat, King of Paanchaal) is the Queen of Indraprastha (New Delhi). Her Husbands, Yudhishtir, Bhim, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadev have lost her in a game of Dyes to their brethren Prince of Hastinaapur (Delhi), Dhuryodhana. The Prince now wants to settle old scores against  Paanchaali. They dragged her in to the Open Court. They try to remove her clothes and make her nude before scores of people gathered there. They want to shame her by their act. She is a women. Her only protectors, her husbands, were slaves to the Prince. There is no one to question the act of the Prince. She is alone. There is no one to come for her rescue. A 'deer-surrounded-by-wolves" like situation. She tried her best to protect her physically, but in vain. She has decided to Surrender. Not before these cowardice. But before the Lord of all Lords. She raised her hands above her head and started the Holy Voice, GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! again GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! and again GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. She faint. Her lips cried with the Holy Voice again and again. What a thrilling moment. Her sarees started to grow one beneath the other. The pulling warrior become tired and fall on the ground. Her 'Self-Esteem' was protected by the Lord of all Lords, just by one call GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!

GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!! is not just a slogan. It is a call to Sri Vaikunta. He is the nearest person to every creature. He attends to all their needs. He can be reachable by one and only Holy Voice GOVINDAA! GOVINDAAA!! GOOVINDA!!!. He comes to the rescue before others come. He comes to you when others cannot think of. But what is expects is mere Surrender. If you think you can be able to face the problems. Well do that. But if you can't win over the situation, don't give it up. Don't run from pillar to post and seek help from the helpless. Just Surrender at the Lotus Feet of the Lord of All Lords, Lord of the Universes, Lord of All Times. He is the only Abode of this entire creation. Take rest in him. Leave the duty to him. He will Save you and your Generations as happened to Gajendra and Draupati.

The Name of Govinda has a significant meaning, one of which is the Protector of Creatures. He protects the life in many universes and keeps them in his Abode, Sri Vaikunta. This site lists innumerable meaning of the Name Govinda, with descriptive quotes from respective Texts. Govindanamaavali. Just go through it. You will be forgiven if you will not shed tears while reading them. That is the magic of Govinda. Join this Bhajan and fill your heart with Govinda Namaavali. Venkataramanaa Govindaa. Bhagwan Sri Shankaraacharya of Kaaladi gives extensive advise to this human world to be alert and murmer Govinda always to get freed from bondage of this life. Hear him in the voice of Bharat Ratna M.S.Bhaja Govindam.

You can enjoy the presence of Govinda in and out, up and down, front and back, top to bottom of every thing in the life, once you start murmuring Govindaa only. Eat whatever you got for the sake of Govinda, just to fill the belly and nothing more. Even if it is poison it will be nourished. Rise with Govindaa, Awake with Govindaa, Walk with Govindaa, Bath with Govinda, Eat with Govindaa, Work with Govinda, Sleep with Govindaa. Whatever in your life good or bad, just do it with Govinda and for Govinda. You will not be disturbed by the good or bad effects of such actions. You will be taken care of by the Lotus Feet of the Lord.

A child is sitting on the shoulders of her father. He is going through a Mela in a town. The child is enjoying all the sights of the mela. She sees the various activities of the mela, monkey show, gymnastics, toys, funny things, rock n roll, bull race, etc. She has nothing to care about. She has no worry of taking care of herself. It is the father who takes care of everything. He peeps through the mad rush. He puts every step carefully so that his child will not fall down or hurt by the crowd. The position of a person who rests in Govindaa is like that of the child on the father's shoulder. Think of a situation if there is no father. The child has herself to take care of all her needs. Her enjoyment will come down. Her misery will grow. She will got struck in the crowd and spend all her time and energy to come out of the melee. This is the situation of a person who has not taken refuge in Govindaa.

It is our fortune that we took birth in India. You have Thousand Names of the Lord to murmur. You have Ganges, which flows from the Lotus Feet of the Lord, to bath and drink. You have Gita, preached by the Lord, to read. You have Chaardham (Puri, Dwarka, Badrinath and Srirangam) of the Lord to visit. See the sides as not just North or South, they are the abodes of Jagannath in the East, Dwarkanaath in the West, Badrinaath in the North and Ranganaath in the South.
